FAQs

Why not just use an ad blocker?

Traditional ad blockers block ads at the network level by filtering URLs and domains. However, streaming platforms like Netflix and Hulu serve ads directly from their own servers as part of the video stream—making them invisible to network-based blockers. AdMute works differently by detecting visual ad elements on your screen and muting them instantly.

Does this violate terms of service?

No. We only mute audio—we don't skip, hide, or modify content. It's identical to manually hitting mute on your device. Ads remain visible and count toward platform metrics.

Which browsers are supported?

Chrome, Edge, and Brave. Firefox support coming Q2 2026.

Can I use this on multiple devices?

Premium accounts support 3 concurrent devices with automatic sync across your browsers.

How accurate is the detection?

Accuracy is measured per service against captured ad-break data. YouTube and Paramount+ are live today with proven detection. Prime Video and Peacock are in beta — code is running in log-only mode while we validate against richer captures. Other services are in development.
